Poppy
GOLDEN LAKE’S TUSCAN WILDFLOWER CCA
Poppy was bred here at home and is the daughter of Rey and Beamer. Her start in life was memorable, to say the least. At just six weeks old, a visitor playfully ran backward through the puppy pen with all ten puppies chasing behind. In the excitement, Poppy—our turquoise‑collar girl—was accidentally stepped on, resulting in a fractured leg. She wore a small splint for four weeks, and although the fracture healed perfectly, we felt it best for her to remain with us while her littermates went to their new homes.
Her spirited, energetic personality quickly won our hearts, and Poppy has brought immeasurable joy to our home ever since. That early accident also inspired a new policy for all future visitors: everyone must be seated on the floor before handling puppies.
Show Career & Titles
Poppy possessed lovely breed type and balanced conformation, but her show career was brief due to persistent car sickness. Even now, she still dislikes car rides, though she bravely endures them to reach the places she loves. To avoid unnecessary stress for both of us, I chose to retire her from the show ring.
Despite these challenges, Poppy successfully earned her AKC Certificate of Conformation Assessment (CCA) and completed the requirements for her AKC Fetch Novice title—accomplishments that reflect her willingness, intelligence, and natural ability.
Motherhood & Legacy
With showing behind her, we focused on completing her health clearances in preparation for motherhood. Poppy was bred for the first time in late spring of 2023, and in July she delivered a beautiful litter of ten puppies—five boys and five girls—sired by GRCH Cobblestone’s Liverpool Lad “Harrison.”
Poppy excelled as a mother. Given her spirited (and sometimes chaotic) puppyhood, I wondered how she would take to motherhood, but she surpassed every expectation. Attentive, nurturing, and confident, she proved herself to be an exceptional dam.
We look forward with hope and excitement to welcoming another Poppy litter in spring 2026.
